One of the core
modules of TIM, providing the ideal platform upon which to sell accommodation
using a variety of distribution channels such as 'Call Centres', 'Accommodation
Bureau', 'Tourist Information Centres', and World Wide Web'. Bookings can be
carried out in line with current National Tourist Board practices and will print
on either the standard Tourist Board booking forms or customised forms
The whole module has been designed to provide a professional and efficient
service to both clients and accommodation providers. The key to the system is
its ability to match clients with establishments and to give accommodation
providers confidence in the selection processes.
Comprehensive search and select routines have been developed (can be based
simply on price or/and a combination of more than 150 selectable fields) to
enable client requirements to be entered quickly and efficiently with results
filtered logically and displayed virtually instantly.
The search results will 'sort' establishments primarily according to
'availability' but essentially by a unique 'fairness criteria'. This is based on
the number of bookings received, by the size of establishment, ensuring an even
and fair spread of bookings. With the use of auto-dial facilities the
reservation can then be quickly confirmed and then completed. The response of
every call is logged, recording 'no answers', 'engaged', 'answer-phone', or
'booked'. The results can be printed out via the 'Reporter'.
A complete history of every enquirer is recorded, with repeat enquiry details
retrieved on entering name and postcode. The program handles multiple room
types, room descriptions, special rates and infinite price structures, which can
also be set and selected on a 'per room' or 'per-person' basis. Search routines
consider 'better value', 'under-occupancy', and 'under-occupancy charges' where
appropriate. Availability can be entered for any period, either manually by
staff or electronically by accommodation providers for any room type for any
period dynamically, by allocation or by brokering.
A unique 'save and retrieve' facility allows part-completed bookings to remain
on the system until they are completed; a feature specifically designed to cope
with incoming and outgoing bookings, which are rarely completed immediately.
A comprehensive range of statistics can be generated through the 'Reporter'
including value of bookings, breakdowns of commissions, fees and values,
detailed allocation report, bed nights, people nights, establishment types,
Room/unit type, Accommodation and Booking type.
TRIPS - As CTV systems fully utilise the National Resource Database
(TRIPS) bookings can be made direct to any accommodation provider in the UK,
provided they are registered with the ETC. There is no need to contact the
remote TIC; no need to ask your client to return later; all transactions can be
made direct with the accommodation provider and can be completed with your
customer at the desk in the same way that a 'local' booking is made. This
facility could totally replace the traditional BABA system.
