Training: one
of the most under-funded options in the entire IT spectrum, and especially
neglected in the TIC environment. And why?
Partly because the hectic world of tourism leaves
little time for play and exploration down the fascinating paths of CTV software.
Partly because our systems are so user-friendly
that staff can all muddle along quite satisfactorily without the benefit of a
training programme.
And partly because untrained staff do not even realise the full capabilities of
TIM, so don't even know what they're missing!
A huge amount of time and effort can be saved by
capitalising on our systems in the way they were designed to be used.
For example, our VisitIT software gives you the
ability to record visitor throughput, covering the number of visitors to any
site, what time of day they arrived, which entrance they used and even which
facilities they required.
The figures can be monitored on-screen, or
delivered in weekly, monthly or yearly reports which can be shown in figures or
on graphs, whichever is easier and most useful for your own needs.
By breaking down the numbers down into half-hourly segments, staffing rotas can
be planned to make the most efficient use of the workforce budget - at the press
of a key.
So how do our on-site
training programmes work?
All CTV training is delivered by staff with direct experience in the tourist
industry, not just expertise in computers.
We follow a pre-planned schedule which we base on
your own requirements and priorities, and back up the hands-on work - on our own
high-spec computers, so that we don't tie up your own terminals - with notes and
documents.
A typical training 'day' lasts for six hours - we
schedule the timing to suit each site's needs - and we feel that a maximum of
eight people is right for each course. We also prefer to work away from their
normal workplace, to ensure that they're not called back to the desk at a
crucial moment!
We recommend that all staff have two days of
training, so larger sites may need six/eight days for everyone to go through.
The courses cover a basic introduction to using a
PC and Windows (which may be new to staff) as well as the CTV software, while a
single-day 'top-up' session can act as a useful reminder, or bring new members
of staff up to speed if they have been left to pick the system up for themselves
so far.
In addition, on new sites, we will stay, if
asked, to 'hold your hand' on the day you go live!
And don't forget - we spend hours designing
easy-to-follow manuals to go with each system, but not everyone refers to them .
. . and some staff don't even know that they exist!
So if you would like to take advantage of our
relevant, reliable and flexible training programmes - let us save YOU both time
and money.
